If you’re a fan of the new BBC TV series, Poldark, consider a stay at the ultimate Poldark location hotel – Polurrian Bay in Cornwall.
If you want to know where Poldark was filmed, and fancy following in the footsteps of the handsome Ross Poldark/Aidan Turner this spring (we haven’t watched it yet, but have it on good authority he takes his top off), you could try the Poldark Package at the Polurrian Bay Hotel.
With gorgeous views and stunning scenery, the hotel is a seaside retreat on the cliffs of the Lizard Peninsula, the dramatic landscape that serves as the backdrop to the shipwreck scenes in the TV adaptation. And Poldark Mine is situated just outside Helston (11 miles from the hotel), the only complete underground mine open to the public in Cornwall and Devon.
As well as exploring the filming locations of Poldark, take advantage of the hotel’s exclusive beach at Polurrian Cove, relax and take in the rugged views from the glass fronted Vista lounge or have a tranquil spa treatment.
Boasting classic Edwardian beauty, the boutique hotel also has chic rooms and contemporary family rooms. Kids stay free when sharing a room with their parents, so this is a great option if you’re travelling as a team.
If you’re keen, the Poldark Package (from £500 per room, based upon two adults sharing – kids stay free) is a great value deal. The price includes a four night stay with a full Cornish breakfast each morning, a two course dinner for two on two of the evenings, a 30 minute spa treatment and a complimentary upgrade subject to availability at the time of booking.
What better way to discover and explore the area where Poldark was filmed?
How to get to Polurrian Bay without flying:
If you’re driving, head for Truro and take the A39 towards Falmouth, then the A394 to Helston. At Helston, take the A3083 (towards The Lizard and Mullion). Turn onto the B3296 and drive through the small one-way system of Mullion. Turn left towards Mullion Cove and you’ll see the right turn for the Polurrian Bay Hotel after about half a mile.
Alternatively, take the train to Truro or Redruth, and then buses to Mullion (changing at Helston).
